Shannon sat at her desk, boredly doodling on a scrap of parchment. The house was completely silent aside from the tapping of rain against the window outside her bedroom. She could also hear the steady ticking of the clock sitting on the fireplace mantle. Brutus twittered from nearby, pearched on a shelf above her bed, listening for mice.
She stared around her room. Everything looked old and familiar, though it had changed so much since the fire. The wallpaper was an offwhite with gold stripes, and the baseboard was a burgandy. Her shelves were dusty and filled with books of leather binding and old looking script. Her floor was worn and wooded, a floral carpet taking up most of the room. She stood up and went to the small coffee table in front of the old couch before the fireplace. A stack of Vera's letters sat there, undisturbed since they had been opened.
She leafed through them, smiling. She expected her friend any moment now.

Sometimes, Vera's brilliance astounded even her. She hadn't thought of FlooPowder before but now that she had, visiting her friend would be much much easier. She stood at the fireplace in her livingroom, holding a cardboard box that she had decorated with drawings of stickfigures that she had named Shannon and Vera. As juvenile as the box looked, she knew shannon would appreciate it anyway.
"Right. So, being the brilliant mastermind that I am..." she began to say to her cousin, Gerry who was sitting on her couch eating a bag of potatoe chips. He snorted at her comment which made her roll her eyes. "Anyway, as I was saying, I'll be back whenever and I might be bringing Shannon back with me from Ieland. So, be on your best behaviour while I'm gone, savvy?" she said with a slight smirk. They both knew that he wasn't the one who needed to be warned about his behaviour.
She set the box down and saluted Gerry who chuckled. "Bon voyage!" he joked and then went back to his chips. Picking her box up once more, she tucked it under one arm and with her free hand, grabbed a fistful of green Floopowder that was sitting next to the fireplace in a small dish. She cleared her throat and spoke as clearly as she could "The residence of Ms.Shannon Nicole Green, Dublin Ireland." and then hrew the powder into the fireplace and stepped inside, closing her eyes.
When she opened her eyes again she was in a livingroom. She looked around and spotted her friend sitting at a desk. Placing the box down once more, she ran across the room and grabbed her friend in a bear hug. "Suprise! It's me!" she yelled.

Shannon burst out laughing, half startled and half insanely relieved. She hadn't seen her friend since the last day of school and she'd nearly forgotten how great her presence was. "Finally!" She giggled. "What held you up? Did Gerry hold you by your ankles?" The house no longer felt as quiet and empty as it had before now.

"Nope. I just had to put the finishing touches on your care package." she said holding the box up for Shannon to see. Pointing to the drawings on the box she said "That one with the peddler cap on is you because you're Irish and the one with the guilty look on her face is me because I had just commited a felony." she laughed. "They're not very good drawings because as amazing as I may be, I'm not much of an artist."
She handed the box over to Shannon for her to open and look at and open. Inside the box was the newest issue of 'Witch Weekly' and of the popular Muggle magazine 'Rolling Stone'. She also packed a bag of Bertie Bott's and some chocolate frogs. There really was no need for the box but Vera wanted to show off her stick figures and thought that a box would be the best way of doing so. "Go on! Open it!" she exclaimed.

She laughed again and examined the drawings. "I think, you're a wonderful artist! Who else could capture such emotion on ones face after commiting a felony? Should I ask what the crime was?" She eyed her friend dubiously and took the box from her hands, smiling.
She took a seat on the couch beside her, preparing to open the... special box. "Aw, Vera, I don't have anything for you. Sorry." She frowned. "Maybe I can show you the best places in Dublin. That might suffice as a gift. Though it'll be crawling with Muggles out there..."

Vera bowed at her friend's compliment. "Yes, I guess you're right. I am the next DaVinci!" she said gazing at her stickfigures with admiration. She snapped out of her little bubbly and replied "Stick-Me robbed a bank. She got bored and just decided 'Hey! You know what? I think I'll rob a bank today!' and God bless her little soul, she went out and did it." she sniffed as if she were crying and then continued "She's an inspiration to all, she really is.".
"Please! Shannon, you're actually allowing me into your home and you're allowing me to now spread chaos all through Ireland. That's more than enough. You don't have to get me anything." she said plopping down beside her friend on the couch. "Showing me around Dublin is the perfect gift! Now, I can start the next part of my plan for world domination!".

"Ah..." She said with mock-unease. "I'm sure the Irish authorities will go easy on you." She rolled her eyes jokingly and unveiled the contents of her box.
"Witch Weekly! I've been meaning to subscribe to this..." She said, pouring over the cover. She set it aside and pulled out her next prize. "I love Rollingstone! Ah, you're the best, V! Bertie Bots and Chocolate Frogs. You know me so well." She leaned over and gave her friend a hug.

"Of course they'll go easy on me! They wouldn't have known it was me who robbed the bank because I would've cleverally covered my tracks." she said as if it were the obvious answer. She liked goofing off like this with Shannon, it made life much more fun.
Her face lit up with joy as Shannon opened the box and looked through it's contents. "Of course I'm the best! It all comes with being me!" she joked. She was glad Shannon liked the magazines, it usually cheered Vera up whenever she was bored out of her mind and she figured it'd help Shannon out as well.
Laughing, she let her friend hug her. "What kind of friend would I be if I didn't know which candies you liked?" she chuckled. She was glad she had come up with the idea of visiting Shannon. It definately was turning out to be fun.

Shannon smiled, now much more cheerful. "So there's really nothing new? Nothing exciting happened since the last time I saw you?" She couldn't really blame her if that were true. Nothing even remotely interesting had happened over her vacation. She mostly sat inside and wished the rain would pass.
Thinking of rain, she glanced at the window. Tiny drops of water were still tapping on the glass as if demanding entrance into her safe and dry home. Rain was very unappealing to Shannon, though it would be if it were all you'd ever known.

Vera let out a sigh, "Nope. Except for that wedding I tld you about.". She didn't want to admit it, but she was lying. That wedding was the most exciting thing but not because a friend of hers was getting hitched.
She cleared her throat and changed the subject, "So, what's today's schedual?" she asked. She was dying to go and explore Ireland. It seemed so mysterious and she just loved it. She was glad that her friend lived there because it gave her an excuse to be there and explore the unknown.

She could hear something suppressed in her voice, but Shannon didn't press forward.
"I thought we'd start on Grafton Street. It's the best place for shopping, and there's a special store there just for wizards. We could always head down to the Guiness Brewery. We're about the drinking age here. And I won't let you get too out of hand." She smiled adoringly. "Or we could go to the museum or something. But that's kind of boring... We could go to the dublin castle..."

All Vera heard was Guiness Brewery and it made her day. "You must've been reading my mind!" she said with a smirk. Shannon knew her so well so it wasn't that much of a suprise that she would take Vera to the brewery.
"I think I love Dublin, already!" she joked. Everything else sounded interesting too. London was boring after awhile and the rest of England wasn't much better. When you spent the last sixteen years of your life in the same country most of the time, things teneded to get boring. That was why she loved visiting America so much. Everything was different there. There was more versatility and it was refreshing compared to foggy old England.

Giggling, Shannon led the way down the hall, passing moving portraits of her old relatives. She glanced out the window next to the door and noted the rain. Stumbling over the runner at the end of the hall, she clumsily pulled her boots on over her jeans. She slipped her wand into her pocket and took some money from a drawer by the door. Both wizard coins and muggle money jiggled in her pocket.
"You did take me seriously when I told you to bring a raincoat, right?" She asked, eyeing Vera.

She followed Shannon out of the room and into the hallway. Shannon's house was nice, it really was and Vera found herself looking at the portraits up on the wall, her blue eyes scanning each face for any resembelance to her friend. She found a couple and one of them looked so much like Shannon that it was scary. Shuddering, she looked away and continued to follow her friend.
She watched as her friend threw on a raincoat. "Yeah...about that..." she laughed nervously. Vera didn't think Shannon was serious, she figured that it would rain but not that she would need a raincoat or even an umbrella. She just expected a light mist or something.
"Would you be mad at me if I said I didn't take you seriously?" she asked with another nervous giggle.

"Why would I be mad? I should expect that by now." She laughed and opened the front closet. "You can borrow one." Smiling, she riffled through the hangers. The closet was neatly stocked for rainy weather. Shannon picked a white coat for herself. It was cute and shapely and had pockets on the front. It went to the top of her thighs and fanned out like a skirt. She smiled into the mirror, feeling confident in Vera's presence. She was happy for the first time in a while, and despite the rain, things were looking positive. Today would be fun.
