Hey! My name is Ashleah and I have been role playing for about 9 years now, though I cannot say the beginning of my role playing career was anything fantastic. I found this place through neopets, unbelievable seeing that site rarely does me any good, but now I can say that neopets has helped me to advance my role playing skills and rekindle my love for Harry Potter. Hair:
His hair is ebony in hue and appears very untidy; most would say it appears he just rolled out of bed, not bothering to fix the hair that seemed to always be sticking up in the back. Really, he saw no point in trying to fix up his hair because it only seemed to become a chaotic mess on its own or through the help of Quidditch practice.
At the age of 15, he had a habit of deliberately messing it up even further to make it look windswept, as though he’d just gotten off his broom. – OP, chapter 28.
Height and Weight:
He stands at 5’9”, but is still young and could easily grow a few more inches within the next year or so. He is of a thin build, but because of the years spent on the Quidditch team he has built up a toned body.

James would seem a rather frail boy if it weren’t for the muscles he put on playing Quidditch. He is tall and slim, almost lanky, yet he is by no means unattractive. His hazel optics are emphasized by his black rimmed glasses, which match his ebony locks. One might think he cares little for his appearance because of his often disheveled hair, but in reality it is quite the opposite. He purposely messes up his hair to give it the look like he just got off his broom, an attempt to impress the ladies. His face is always clean shaven, and on the rare occasion he isn’t shaved he never has more than a 12 o’ clock shadow.
He isn’t much of a stickler for dress codes and often wears his shirt tucked out. He tends to go without the vest/sweater, and has his tie loosened. But since he became a Head Boy he had to clean up his appearance considerably, at least while he was out in the public eye. While away with the Marauders he reverts back to his old self, finding it is far too hard to remain ‘perfect’ all the time.

He fears that his parents will die, sooner rather than later, and that he will be left alone. Basically just being alone...

Overall Personality:
The best way to tell the real personality of a person is not to ask them but to ask those that interact with them every day. Severus Snape, though his opinion is a little biased, describes him as being "exceedingly arrogant," and Sirius sometimes calls him "an arrogant little berk," but we know it is all in love. As for Remus, he has been known to describe James as "the height of cool."[/blockquote][/font][/size]
James can be a bully, especially when it comes to Severus, but he does have a sort side. This side tends to show either when he is in trouble, or when he is trying to impress Lily Evans; generally these two instances go hand in hand. Over the years, he has become more responsible and taken on important positions in the school, both to impress Lily and to try to grow up.
He still enjoys pulling pranks with Sirius, but now he has to be a little more careful so he doesn’t get caught, being Head Boy and all. He has matured greatly over his years at the school. He used to hex anyone that annoyed him, but now he holds his temper, or at least he attempts to. It was also his intelligence and brilliance that got him into a lot of trouble. He was better at dueling than most in his grade, especially Snape, and he was not afraid to show this aspect off.
He is a popular student, an ingenious prankster, and very witty. Madam Rosmerta of the Three Broomstick pub in Hogsmeade, once talked fondly of how the two boys used to come into her bar, flirt with her, and make her laugh. He was indeed a huge flirt, and it didn’t help his best friend was the playboy of Hogwarts.
"Naturally" said Madam Rosmerta, with a small laugh. "Never saw one without the other, did you? The number of times I had them in here -- ooh, they used to make me laugh. Quite the double act, Sirius Black and James Potter!"
History often repeats itself
Father:
The name of James’ father is never revealed in the books, but it is widely speculated that his father was named Charlus Potter. He was an elderly man by the time James was in his seventh year at Hogwarts. His father died between when they took Sirius in and the night of October 31, 1981. It is possible that he came down with dragon pox, a disease that especially effects aged wizards, and passed from that.
Mother:
Like James’ father, her name is also unknown, though it is also speculated that she was Dorea Black. This is not confirmed in any of the books or by JKR, but many readers have come to this conclusion. Their assumption is based on the fact that their names were on the Black family tree and it is shown that the couple had a son, though his name did not appear on the tree. There is some other supporting evidence, such as Dorea's relatively older age when James was born and her sorting into Slytherin (James mentioned his father's sorting, but not his mother's), but there is also some possibly conflicting evidence, such as Dorea dying at the age of fifty-seven, rather than being old in wizarding terms. She died about the same time that Mr. Potter passed; it is believed they died from the same illness.
Siblings:
None; he is an only child born to older parents. He does consider Sirius his brother, and seeing that his parents took the young Black into their home at the age of 16, they could be considered brothers of some sort.

The one time after the exam when he and Sirius decided to cure their boredom by playing a prank on Snivellus, and Lily gets rather upset with him. He also happened to get a rather nasty gash on his face from Snape using a curse on him. At least it showed Snivellus for the Dark Arts follower he was.
History:
The beginning of James' life was nothing close to spectacular. He was born into a pure-blood wizarding family of considerable wealth. He was their only child, which in his mind was rather boring. It wasn’t like James could ever expect any brothers or sisters for the mere fact that his parents, as they explained it to him when he was little, were far too old to raise another child as rambunctious as him. Though the answer always made him smile, James always felt empty inside being an only child.[/blockquote][/font][/size]
As the only child, though, he was pampered a great deal as a child and a young adult. He never wanted for anything. These items were of little importance to him, but it did make many of the other children he played with extremely envious. They did not understand why he got the newest model of broomstick before the rest, or why he had more pets than he could even count. None of those things filled up that gap inside of him; the pets did help, at least until they died of old age or one of the other kids got jealous and killed them.
The first time that incident happened James pushed it off as if it were an accident; no harm, no foul sort of thing. It wasn’t until his pet augurey, Quill (named because of his mothers habit of gathering up his dropped feathers to use as quills), was killed one night when he was 8 that James knew that someone was killing his pets. It was at that point that James began to develop a rather nasty bullying habit. The boy who James believed had been murdering his pets in their sleep, Jacob, soon found himself with a hex upon him and his broomstick broken in two. James would have done more, but he felt that all this was done out of jealousy and that the boy was below him.
This was when his arrogance really began to take shape. He had always had a streak of pride before then because of his great wealth and the fact that every other child, and some adults, were jealous of all he had. This, though, evolved into a rather boastful and arrogant nature that he keeps to this day. It isn’t clear even to him if this is just an act to keep all the pint of pain inside or if he really believed that he was better than everyone else. In a way, he did believe he was, but he was a good person inside.
The best day of his life, still and yet, was when he received his letter from Hogwarts. He had been a gifted child in the arts so there was no doubt in his parents’ eyes that he would get into the school, but they tried often not to say such to their son just in case he didn’t. His parents, especially his mother, were sad to see him go. He promised he would write them often, and he even to this day kept that promise.
James started to attend Hogwarts in 1971. He was nervous like all the other students when it came time to be sorted, and couldn’t help but laugh when he was sorted into Gryffindor. Some would take it as his cocky nature showing through, but it was really a laugh of relief that he had gotten into the house his father had been in. This would make his father proud of him; his father’s pride meant a lot to him.
What James didn’t know at that time was that he would be meeting his best friends in that house. Sirius Black, though a disgrace to his family because he was sorted into Gryffindor, became his best friend and partner in crime. There was no separating them! They were one in the same, and Apollyon Pringle hated them because of it. The stings from the corporal punishment Apollyon Pringle were well worth whatever ingenious prank they decided to pull.
When Sirius was permitted to move in with his parents and him after he had ran away from his own home, the hole inside of him that had been there his whole life began to fill. He finally had that brother he had always wanted, and this one he was able to handpick. Sure he wasn’t happy about the way that Sirius had to come into his house, but he knew that his parents would love him as their own son. And that they did.
It was with Sirius and two of their other close friends, Remus and Peter, that they formed the Marauders. This was their little family within the walls of Hogwarts. They were willing to go to the brink for each other; this could be seen in the way they reacted to finding out that Remus was a werewolf. Now this would have normally ended any other friendship, but with the close bonds they all had they had to find some way to get around this little problem. They did such by learning to become Animagi, which was a long and complex process that took them until their fifth year to master.
A quick study, he is known for his skills with transfiguration in the classroom and his talent on the Quidditch field. He became Chaser in his second year, and soon rose up the ranks to become Captain of the team. He is very popular among his classmates and teachers alike; this aspect allowed him to achieve the rank of Head Boy his seventh year. He wished that Remus had been given the position seeing that he was far more deserving than himself, but seeing it wasn’t possible to just hand the position over he wore his badge with pride, even if Sirius poked fun because of it.
